Doing good is important to me.

I don’t think I realized that running my own business would inspire so much soul-searching. But it has!

In my bio, I’ve mentioned over 16 years of experience as an in-house designer. Most of the jobs I left, I was happy to leave. My time had run out, and I’d grown as much as I was going to or was willing to in those roles. The growth that was left to do either didn’t align with my values or were shoehorned concepts that I didn’t see as helpful to my future.

After each role, I spent about 3 months celebrating my departure and then the rest of the year afterward reflecting on the good and the bad takeaways. One thing I realized is that plenty of folks out there work for a paycheck. The value or impact of the job doesn’t matter to them. I realized I’m not one of those people, no matter how hard I try to convince myself. The roles weren’t fulfilling my needs; I felt empty, not impactful, and felt like my skills weren’t being used in the way I wanted to use them. Something needed to change.

So I changed something! With the support of my husband I’ve had the opportunity to focus on building a meaningful career where I choose to support businesses that align with my values!

Doing good feeds my soul and leaves me feeling fulfilled, so my goal is to work with businesses and organizations that fit at lease one of the following criteria:

Are environmentally mindful through packaging, initiatives, and/or business practices.

You don’t have to be perfect, but you should be trying and I want to help those that are trying!

  • Environmentally friendly packaging helps reduce landfill waste, increases recyclability and can sometimes even be composted!

  • Donating to organizations like 1% for the planet or greenspark fuel change and support conservation efforts across the planet.

  • You may not always be able to actively participate in certain initiatives but focused donations to conservation causes

  • Staff incentives to cycle to work instead of drive, are all helpful steps in

✔ Focus on education in sustainability and/or conservation of land and/or wildlife

People don’t always know or understand why they should care and what impact their choices may have. It is important to help others learn about these things though helpful, kind and informative avenues.

✔ Focus on education in Earth and Life sciences

Learning about how the planet and it’s systems work will help many understand why caring for our planet through mindful choices is important. Knowledge is power!

✔ Products/materials are responsibly sourced or made of natural ingredients that are good for people and the planet

People need things, I’m not anti consumption, but I aim to support businesses that use natural ingredients or use certified responsibly sourced materials in the production of their products.

✔ Actively support initiatives or lead to conserve our planet and it's diversity for future generations

Some companies focus their entire business to making positive change to preserve a diverse and healthy planet for future generations. Change takes guts and I want to help support that!

At the core, good means doing good for humanity and our planet, it means helping future generations have a stable planet with diversity in the flora, fauna, and humans. The Earth is our home—a human vivarium—and it's up to us to care for it and those in it.
